License Cullah’s music

Every Cullah track is placement-ready. Two paths: one for commercial sync (represented by Music Alternatives), one for non-commercial use (Creative Commons with attribution).

Which path are you on

Three ways to use Cullah’s catalog

Major commercial sync — film, TV, ads, games, trailers, brand content.

Almost the entire catalog is represented by Music Alternatives. They handle rate quotes, cue sheets, and cleared stems. Start with Scott Cresto — he’ll get you a quote inside a week.

Smaller commercial — indie projects, small businesses, monetized creators.

For paid uses below the major-sync threshold (small business soundtracks, indie shorts, monetized YouTube/podcasts, paid live shows), browse and license direct on sync.land — Cullah’s self-serve catalog of pre-cleared, instant-license cues.

Non-commercial — YouTube videos, Twitch streams, podcasts, student films, personal projects.

Every Cullah album is released under Creative Commons BY-SA. Free to use if you credit Cullah on-screen and link in the description. The attribution generator at the bottom writes the license text for you.

No email needed — credit is the ticket.

Commercial sync

Music Alternatives

Representation · since 2019

Music Alternatives is Cullah’s sync agency. They represent the catalog for film, television, advertising, video games, trailers, and brand content — anywhere music is licensed and paid for.

For commercial projects, go through them first. They know which tracks are cleared for which uses, can produce cue sheets the moment you need them, and will negotiate the deal on Cullah’s behalf so you don’t have to manage three inboxes.

What to include in your first email: the project (type, length, airing dates), the track(s) you’re considering, and the intended territory + term. Scott will come back with a quote.

License direct on sync.land

Self-serve · instant clearance

Not every project needs a Music Alternatives sync deal. For paid uses below the major-sync threshold — indie films, monetized podcasts, small-business soundtracks, paid live productions, monetized YouTube channels, app/game soundtracks from independent studios — Cullah’s catalog is browsable and licensable direct on sync.land.

How it works: pick the track, pick the use case, pay, get the license certificate + cue sheet. No email back-and-forth, no negotiation overhead. Pre-cleared territory + term so you’re covered the moment you publish.

When to use sync.land vs. Music Alternatives: if your music budget is under a few thousand dollars and the project isn’t broadcast-scale, sync.land is faster. If you’re cutting a deal with a network, brand, or studio (anything where music clearance has its own line item), email Scott.

Non-commercial

Use it now under Creative Commons

CC BY-SA · since 2006

Every Cullah album is released under Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0. That means for non-commercial use you can sync it, remix it, sample it, background-music it, without asking — as long as you credit Cullah and share any derivative work under the same license.

What counts as non-commercial: personal YouTube videos, Twitch streams, podcast intros/outros, student films, wedding reels, live performance backdrops, classroom use, charity events. If your project isn’t selling ads or tickets primarily driven by the music, you’re in CC territory.

What doesn’t count: broadcast TV, theatrical film, paid advertising, commercial video games, brand campaigns, production-music libraries, anything with a music-clearance budget. Major commercial work goes through Music Alternatives; smaller paid projects can self-license on sync.land.

For something else?

Probably fine — credit Cullah. If the use is paid and small-scale, sync.land has you covered. If it’s high-visibility (brand, broadcast, ad, commercial game, theatrical film), route it through Music Alternatives first so the deal gets structured right.
